Does your LLC need an attorney to defend the company in small claims? The Ohio Supreme Court has ruled that a non-lawyer salaried employee or officer of the LLC may appear on behalf of the company provided the person does not cross-examine any witness, put any argument on the record, or otherwise advocate for the LLC. In short, the non-lawyer cannot do anything to defend the LLC except avoiding a default judgment.
